About Alex Turner

Alex Turner Lic Ac, BSc (Hons), AAC, is a registered and fully licensed member of the Association of Acupuncture Clinicians and adheres to their codes of ethics and professionalism.

He has been a complementary health practitioner since 1995 initially as a Tai Chi/Qigong instructor and has taught in London, Bristol and Devon.

After practicing and teaching shiatsu for many years, Alex then went on to study acupuncture. He holds a BSc (Hons) in Acupuncture from the University of Kingston.

In 2018 Alex was awarded a scholarship for his work in cancer care to travel to Heilongjiang University Hospital for Traditional Chinese Medicine to deepen his understanding of Acupuncture, Tuina and Qigong.

His style of acupuncture integrates Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and 5 Element acupuncture. As well as using techniques such as moxibustion, cupping and guasha, he also brings his bodywork experience to the treatment. This may include techniques such as acupressure, Channel palpation, rotations and gentle stretching.

For over 10 years, he was part of The Core Therapy Team at the Penny Brohn Cancer Care Center pre pandemic where he was an acupuncturist on The Treatment Support Clinic. He also practiced shiatsu there and continues to teach Qi Gong online. He was a lead facilitator on their residential courses.

He was Course Director and tutor at The Devon School of Shiatsu where he also taught for many years before moving to Bristol.

He has also taught practical skills at the prestigious College of Integrated Chinese Medicine in Reading .

With 35 years of experience practicing Martial Arts, Mindfulness and Meditation, Alex can advise on energy building and strengthening exercises, postural alignment, relaxation techniques and meditation that are based on these disciplines.
