What is Acupuncture?
Acupuncture is a system of medicine that has been used for thousands of years in China and parts of Asia. Increasing amounts of high-quality research and clinical trials are demonstrating its efficacy in successfully treating a wide range of physical and psychological complaints.
Traditional Acupuncturists understand there are channels of energy (Qi) running through the whole body that interconnect. When blockages occur in the channels illness can arise physically, mentally and emotionally. In an acupuncture treatment, certain points are stimulated, using very fine, single use, stainless steel needles. This promotes a balanced Qi flow throughout the network of channels, encouraging health to be restored.
As a result, patients often report that in addition to addressing their main complaint, becoming free from pain and illness, they also feel increased energy levels and a sense of feeling better in themselves. Acupuncture is now being used and acknowledged in the West as an effective treatment therapy for many modern health concerns and is increasingly being used to compliment conventional medicine or as a natural alternative to it.
At Acupuncture Bristol, Alex integrates both Traditional Chinese Medical Acupuncture (TCM) and 5 Element Acupuncture. He aims to treat the Whole Person and not just the symptoms and to unlock the underlying patterns that cause symptoms to arise.
The first session includes an in-depth consultation where you will be listened to carefully and compassionately. I will ask about your current state of health and your medical history. I will also ask questions about your diet, digestion, sleep and emotional state. I will do a traditional diagnosis and physical examination as appropriate; everything you say is confidential.
If you would like to find out more about an acupuncture treatment and how it may help you I am very happy to talk to you further on the phone on 07748 068360.
